This may take a few posts since I have a ton of pics.
My friend Kyle had the brilliant idea for this trip back in January, 3 days, heli laps, pow, tequila and good friends.
We loaded up the OUTback and rolled down to the San Juans, took about 4 hours from our place in Snowmass. Red Mtn Pass is insane, super curvy, steep in spots, one lane washed out by sluff at one point, elk and coyotes all over the road, not to mention we drove through it at about 9pm.
Silverton is a cool, very mellow little town, we stayed at a motel on the edge of town since everything was booked early due to Red Bull Cold Rush Being the day after our playtime.
If you go, get to the mtn about 8am, it takes longer than you plan to register, get your rental gear if you need and get into a group. 3 of us had beacons, probes and shovels, my lovely lady rented a beacon. All rentals are super affordable fyi.
