    Silverton Recap

This may take a few posts since I have a ton of pics.
My friend Kyle had the brilliant idea for this trip back in January, 3 days, heli laps, pow, tequila and good friends.

We loaded up the OUTback and rolled down to the San Juans, took about 4 hours from our place in Snowmass. Red Mtn Pass is insane, super curvy, steep in spots, one lane washed out by sluff at one point, elk and coyotes all over the road, not to mention we drove through it at about 9pm.

Silverton is a cool, very mellow little town, we stayed at a motel on the edge of town since everything was booked early due to Red Bull Cold Rush Being the day after our playtime.

If you go, get to the mtn about 8am, it takes longer than you plan to register, get your rental gear if you need and get into a group. 3 of us had beacons, probes and shovels, my lovely lady rented a beacon. All rentals are super affordable fyi.

The lady and I headed up

Heli pick up at the top, we loaded up from the bottom pick up to get more laps in

Beautiful pics, I can't think of a better way to spend a long weekend.

Where are the heli drops relative to the normal, lift / hike accessed areas? I had the chance 5 years ago to try OUT the lift / hike guided tours, despite believing that I was prepared, it was some seriously hard work.

We only did 2 heli drops. The rest of the day was hike to. It was a push at times. We tried to hike the bowl at highlands 4 times a week for the month before we went to "train" and we all were fine.
It's already planned for next year. Gonna try and do the full day heli but it's some serious loot.

All boot pack. There is a good path up the main ridge.
