I personally would get down with the DOA, not that I've ever ridden one....

With size 10 boots I definitely would not get a 56 wide Extreme.
The Extreme is already a "wide-ish" park board with a mellow sidecut. Unless you have sasquatch feet, which you dont, no reason to go wide on it.
Between the two, DOA.

I dont really care about a combo or camber board.....and like bad63lac said, the xtreme is already a "wide-ish" park board. I think its too wide for me actually...So i guess the DOA would be the best for me.... just not sure if its "playful" enough.... they're 200$ each...and he doesn't have anything else in my "size". Maybe I should just pay full price for something else next year...like a xtreme 56

From everything that I've heard about the DOA (and the people that I've seen already riding them up here around Seattle), I get the feeling that you're gonna kick yourself if you pass up that deal...

buy them both then sell the one you don't like?
-

I've seen quite a few DOA's around and from what i've heard people like them alot! and for 200 bucks that is a steal.

I dont know why I didn't think about it haha, you're right, I should buy them both...
I could probably find that answer in the older post, but is the DOA a freestyle board (park jumps/rails) or is it more freeride oriented? Kind of like a softer version of a fk'n?

I got the impression that the DOA was a do-it-all board. Softer than the TFA. More aggressive than the ultra. Too bad its extruded. Sick graphic.

I would say that the Extreme and the DOA are both fun boards. Neither one is really playful. Both are responsive, poppy, solid edge to edge and light. You will have to work for your presses on either board but other than that they are both freestyle oriented do it all boards.

Would you size down on the DOA since it seems to have a longer effective edge?

gumbysrath said: Would you size down on the DOA since it seems to have a longer effective edge?
yeah..I useally ride something around 56cm....so I think a DOA 54 would be fine...but still, longer effective edge on the DOA 54 than on my fk'n 59 (1224 vs 1201)
By the way, a 2013 midlife zero55 for 275$ + shipping if interested...

so im confused, is the 2013 ultrafear flat-kick or flat camber? at 3:05 in the interview scott says that its flat camber

flat kick is flat between the bindings, reverse camber out from there.

Isn't "flat-kick" only referring to only the nose and tail shape being flat as opposed to a curve like traditional boards? It has nothing to do with the camber profile since you find flat-kick on both the TFA (traditional camber between bindings) and the Indoor Survival (flat between the bindings). Specifically look at the Charlie Slasher page: http://www.capitasnowboarding.com/snowboards/charlie-slasher-fk The Wah-Pow Flat-kick technology only points to the nose and tail, not the base profile at all.
I was confused about what flat-kick meant to begin with too. It's why I didn't look at the TFA for awhile because I really don't like flat/no camber and was wanting a more traditionally cambered board.

technically, yes. flat kick is just how the ends of the board kick up, but all of the "alternative" camber boards are referred to as Flat Kick, because all of capita's non-regular camber boards have it.

I feel like they should've made the Stairmaster zero cambered.
edit:...or that would actually take away the whole point of the Stairmaster, but maybe they could offer an alternative zero cambered Stairmaster and still have the OG cambered ones as well

i feel like capita should offer wide version of indoor, 152w & 156w like sm & smx (maybe 54 & 58), it's all mountain fk deck so range of potential customers is pretty wide, not that it really means anything but i already met few guys who d get it as do it all board but it's too narrow for their feet

fk always referred to the nose and tail kicks as well as the rocker profile. "FK" has become "freestyle fk" (outdoor, ultra, etc), and branched off into freeride fk, hybrid fk, etc.
i have noticed a lot of people calling boards flat camber when it's just flat in the middle, like an ultrafear is. "flat camber" normally refers to 100% flat profiles.

2nd this because the sm is meant to be the classic cambered park board. plus their # of cambered boards is diminishing with the midlife going flat this year and the outdoor next.

I'd rather see a 54 and 58W on the indoor. splits the difference a little better IMO

im interested to see how people like the outdoor zero cam next year. i personally like the camber.
and yeah, i wouldn't want stairmaster to be zero camber. i like it just the way it is.
btw, what base plats r on the superpros? atlas?

D.O.A is probably the best board to buy if you have money for only 1 deck and want something thats going to shred the whole hill. I rode it all season and had a hard time sending back the demo. Its the board I will shred since the Outdoor was turned Flat. I find it to be a happy medium for something between the Outdoor and the B.S.O.D. Was more than forgiving in the softer snow, but stiff enough to cut through the East Coast Crud. On days where I want something super playful & fun, I will always go back to the Stairmaster.
