To watch: (500) Days of Summer. A somewhat frivolous romantic comedy. But it has Zooey Deschanel in it, who if it's possible to do so without ever meeting the person, I am madly in love with. :P

To avoid: Terminator Salvation. I love the Terminator series. Both movies were absolutely amazing. *puts fingers in ears* there is no third movie! *takes fingers out of ears* But Salvation? Meh. It just felt like it was lacking something. I really didn't care about any of the characters. The only one I remotely cared about was John's wife/girlfriend and that was only because she's a hot redhead. Don't even get me started on the inane plot manipulation and gaping plotholes. I'm glad I downloaded it. I at least felt like I got my money's worth.

500 Days of Summer: I was plesently surprised with this movie. I don't think that I have ever had so many emotions going on iside me while watching a movie as I did during this movie. Zooey reminded me of an X-girlfriend...I wanted to jump through the movie screen and destroy that bitch

claim: I worked at the weekly arts & entertainment magazine at college with one of the screenwriters of 500 Days of Summer.

Having said that I still haven't seen it.

Thumbs up to Moon and The Informant.

On the plane trip I saw this weird movie called LOL (yes, it has to do with texting/IM'ing acronyms) that ended up being almost like a 2 hour Urban Outfitters commercial about French high school hipster kids and their problems. But the girls were cute and Sophie Marceau played the mom...and what a hot mom she is.

Also big up to District 9, Paranormal Activity, and...

The Fantastic Mr. Fox was really really great. But more of a movie for adults who used to watch movies like this...if you love Wes Anderson, you have to see it. If you like Wes Anderson and like me thought he got more and more cloying and out there with each movie, you'll also like this. Also features Jarvis Cocker as a banjo-playing balladeer.

I have to give my man blutters two thumbs way up for his nomination of 1998 film "Happiness". Hands down one of the most disturbing, excellent movies I've ever seen. NOT the type of movie to see on a first date - not easy to watch in places. But amazing nonetheless. In the last decade of watching films "Happiness" continues to haunt me.

Haha. Same here. I guess the thing I liked most about the movie is that it is pretty realistic. Most movies like this have characters that are so overblown and like nobody I've ever met.

Blindside was good, nowhere near the level of Rudy as far as feelgood-based-on-true-story sports movies... Had its points of weak acting but I liked it, the girl LOVED it.. probably because I got the popcorn

recently i saw a lebanese movie called "under the bombs" that was filmed in lebanon during the cease fire with israel in 2006. the film only had two actors - everyone else was a citizen or journalist, playing themselves. there were no sets - it was incredibly powerful, much more vivid and visceral than the third party observer viewpoint of a documentarian. highly recommend it, especially to anyone that liked "waltz with bashir."

ooh, me too. i admit that this is one of my half finished books (i think i have about eight right now...), so correct me if i'm wrong here, but i don't remember a charlize theron character in the book? wasn't it just the two guys?

im assuming you liked castaway too huh? I thought the only good part in Castaway was when Wislon was swept away off into the ocean leaving Tom Hanks all alone. Moon lacked even that much enjoyment for me.

I rented Yes Man just to see her. It was watchable.

What is not watchable: Ninja Assassins
Only watch if you get hard ons from seeing people getting sliced apart and paper thin plots.
