really its all about Bear and High with High being the closest. Park park park. Summit is cool too,next to Bear, but now family and groomer oriented. Mammoth is a 5 hr drive from LA but by far the best resort. Many drive up for the weekend and flights are also available.

Approx 2 to 2 1/2hrs to Mt High and 3hr to Bear/Summit from San Diego. I didn't make any Bear trips this yr.
Baldy is great if it dumps, but I broke my board there due to minimum coverage. It's not a place I'd regularly visit each season. As DAS said, Bear and High are the true local mtns with Mammoth as the "local" big mtn.
EDIT: there's snow valley, but I haven't been there forever. Some folks may have mentioned there's a park, but if you're going to snow valley, might as well go to Bear (location wise, they are within 15-20 min drive of each other, I think.)

If you are riding with a family IMHO Snow Valley is the place to go if you are staying close. Super friendly staff...(which you will not get at other socal resorts) Great deals, fun mellow park.But for riding with friends...Bear gets my vote.

No. It's 90% naked time and you should take full advantage of it.
Fly somewhere if you need a snow fix. The rest of us want to enjoy southern California for all the reasons why we live here.

Anybody been to Makino sushi off of MacArthur Blvd? Just wondering if it's as bad as the yelp reviews.

I'm not there, but I had a few coworkers mention they heard about it because of the Las Vegas location is supposed to be really good.
Just thinking of some summer activities. Hint hint...

Never heard of that place. What are you doing in my hood?WASA is right there and good, although the decor is meh. Also like Taiko up near the 5. Or Cal Beach on the Newps Peninsula for the cheap all you can eat and "Coming in the Air" wood block banging.
