I lol'ed at Tywin coming into the throne room, but not until after his horse took a dump. Beautiful allegory.

Time to wipe the dust off of this thread!
I am looking forward to this season big time.
I really enjoyed how the first season closely followed the first book.
I didn't like the pace of the 3rd and 4th books so I like that the show has taken great liberties with the story lines.

3rd book was banging, book 4 took a bit of a nose dive but 5 improved somewhat.
Regardless book 3 has to be my favorite book of all time. I cant wait to see this shit on the screen.

I love ASOI&F. The TV show is not near as good as the books. Read all 5. Can't wait for Winds of Winter. The show is just a little too boring/slow paced.

Just watching Season 2, now. Super pumped for Season 3. I read the books, and my wife didn't. It's hard to keep my mouth shut.

This. I LOVE these books, way better than the show imo. Book 3 is nuts, so hopefully the show will be just as good. I'll probably actually watch this season. I did like book 5 though, it was a step up from book 4 for sure. Can't wait for the next one! -

don't worry about spoilers who gives a fuck its not our job to "protect people" from readily avalailable information
of course the books are better, imagine how much "show" it would take to present all the info in even 100 pages?
that being said the show is still excellent. i don't like how they glossed over the whitewalker encounter though

Agreed, they just completely ignored the whole "dragon glass" concept, which I assumed would/will come into play later on.
I also thought it was pretty funny that they couldn't really keep Barristan's identity a secret as all the viewers would recognize him, so they just rolled with it. Also, where the hell is Belwas? Think they cut him out completely, or like the Reeds, he will just be introduced later on so they don't have to pay another actor for an extra season.

Some reviewers have seen 4 episodes of this series and have mentioned that sam the slayer is covered either in one of those or sometime in this series.
I could understand why some of the changes are made - Whitebeard/Selmy works better in print where the reader wouldn't know who whitebeard was and so its as much a revelation to us as it is to dany and jorah - and enjoyed the line Cersei said about Tyrion's nose as a nod to reader.
Jon Snow's reasoning had to be changed as he was not at the feast at Winterfell, but stood outside.
