skip said: On the sidewall thing - I put my 156.5 through 8 days of riding at Jackson Hole - the cover was generally thin with only one powder day (which was awesome) so I spent a lot of time searching trees and stuff for fresh.
I hammered the board against rocks, tree stumps, icy moguls, ski pole sign things - barely a scratch on it - sidewalls are fine.
I fucking love this thing. Asym rocks.

Maybe the few that broke were bad boards?

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall any of the broken boards being the asymmetrical 156.5.

I am drawing attention to this because the 156.5 is only board that has a single-layer sidewall (on the asymmetrical side).

asym. asymmetrical. it means its not symmetrical... the heel edge has a deeper sidecut than the toe edge. it caters to the way your body naturally does turns i guess.

Same. I love the design, especially the touch of green on the sidewall.

So they make different asym boards for goofy and regular riders then?

no, they are true twin boards, and the deeper sidecut edge is always the heel edge.

Wouldn't having an asym sidecut on the toe edge also be useful?

Not sure if they market it the same way as the park pickle, but I think it's actually easier to turn on my heels than on my toes.

    itll be different for everyone.

im trying to think of how it feels between the two for me, like if i feel a quicker curve would feel better on my heel edge, or a mellower curve. i lean toward quicker, but who knows.. i want to try one of these out.

ive been thinking the gdoh is a true twin and the graphic is symmetrical so how will you know which edge is the heel edge?

for me personally, the camrock type 'rocker' makes more sense (similar to NS i think as well)

kpozan - sick board dude... love the simple straightforward design... definitely looking forward to some reviews

why is that, out of curiosity?

i personally like the idea of c2 more, for an all-around performance rocker, and after riding it, i believe in it even more. i do like all the boards ive had with rocker outside the bindings though.. camrock, flat kick, etc. with rocker outside the bindings and camber in the middle, you get camber for turning and rocker for float, but nothing for power in the tips or pop, whereas c2, you do get that. playfulness and float, but full edge contact on groomers, and pop/power from the camber under foot, and you cant really do that if you rocker the board outside the bindings.. again, not to say i dont still like those boards a lot. its just preference, and a c2-like rocker is pretty much perfect for me.

neversummers rocker has rocker in the middle with camber under foot (same as c2 and flying v). camrock is the exact opposite.

doesn't camrock = camber between binders reverse from inserts out?
ns r.c. tech is reverse between with micro camber at the inserts...right??? all the varieties confuse me.

After inspecting my own board, they are just like any other sidewall, except there is a clear coat of paint over them (as opposed to the color of the top of the board).

The macro pictures are deceiving, and make the layers look very pronounced.
