Noice! I was supposed to ride yesterday but no one was motivated. Got 11 miles in on Friday night though. Spent yesterday afternoon at the Dig Day for the Canyons bike park - in exchange for my raking trails, removing rocks & shaping a few corners I got a free lunch, free lift ticket and the chance to drink some beers and meet new people. A good day. Got interviewed by their media dude (must have been the sexy accent) so I might even get famous on the internetz.

Lomax, I continue to be jealous of you.yeah, well I only post the cool stuff in my life, if you only knew the rest, haha, seriously though I have been trying to enjoy life and get the most out of it lately, and not get bogged down with society and the mundane life of many in America..

We had a cabin to stay at about half way on our journey. The Maah Daah Hey trail is cool. It connects the two units of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park and is a total of 96 miles long, we rode 80 of it. We were lucky to have this cabin, otherwise we would have had to carry all of our camp gear and way more food and water (which many and most people do). Lots of people hike the trail in about 5-6 days.

Just finish up my first mtb race. It was an enduro style race on some of my home trails. Really fun. Going to do my first XC race in a couple of weeks as well. and on Saturday Spec had their demo van got to ride an S-works Stumpy hardtail, S-works Stumpy fsr and an sworks epic fsr. All 29ers, now all I need is an extra 10000$

Rad dude !^ I have always wanted to do a race of some sort on my mtb. Keep us posted on how your upcoming race goes. There is a 50 miler in Butte that I might try, if I am in good enough shape by then.

speaking of Specialized and epic 29ers, I love my bike, it is perfect for me. the Brain is smart. -

the Brain is smart.
Eeeenteresting. I had a buddy with a Stumpy and he hated the brain.
I rode a new DH-style trail today, so fun! Started with about 4.5 miles of XC-style riding which was less than ideal for the bikes we were on, but I had fun & needed the exercise.
My favourite section of the new trail is about 15 consecutive tight dusty flowy turns that are super steep. You basically just body-steer the bike through them. Quite stoked I cleaned it all first try.

Hanging out on the XC section. Stoked on my new POC shinguards. Soft enough to pedal in but offer solid protection for flying rocks/branches/snakes etc.

I hit up one of the DH trails around the area a few days ago and i was ssoo shitty whoever built it had a screw lose. It was really tecnical, drops into rock landings, laders to flat with no trail, drops around 180 degree corners, Road gap to 50ft landing then 90 degree corner with no bank, etc. no flow whatsoever plus it was so tight there was no way you could get any speed, kinda defeats the purpose of DH in my opinion? Plus the forest service found it and clear cutted over the trail so i had to carry my bike around the spot and find the trail again.. Glad ive got my own project!

After digging for a bit on Saturday I'm interested in building a trail. Lots of work, but it could be a lot of fun.

ITs so worth it the satisfaction of riding your own work and having complete creative control is such as great feeling, plus when people see it and flip out it great to see! haha Plus the right tools and the right crew make it pretty easy so long as everyone does their share!

What's a decent lock these days, that can't be opened with a lighter and a bic pen cap?
I'm moving to the city and I want to keep my mtn bike as I like hopping around town and hitting trails on the weekend. The single speed will serve a purpose, but I want to be comfortable in knowing that when I lock up my mtn bike on a busy street, it will be there when I come back.

what year was his?Either this year or last. He's an ex-DH racer so is probably quite particular about how his suspension is set up.

I went camping this weekend....rode my bike once, filmed it, the footage was slow and depressing....that is all.

It'd be faster than me filming! That's why I haven't bought one, I know the footage would be uninspiring.

Has anyone used a GoPro handlebar mount? I was thinking of buying a GoPro, but I'd rather not have it sticking out of my helmet.
-

I hear the handlebar mount shakes too much, and most either go with the helmet or chesty.
-
Posted 1 year ago #Official Bicycle Thread
i thought of that as well... but wouldn't want to ruin my main helmet.
uhhh... don't think there's a lot of interest in 1st person road riding though.

I have a gopro on my handlebars, it can be pretty shaky, but i wouldn't recommend one on the old brain bucket. The chest mount is probably your best option.
-

I have tried both and the chest is much better. If you keep the plastic plate the gopro comes with you can make a pretty decent chest mount for real cheap. I can post pictures of mine later but i made it with that plate, nylon webbing, and the clips that a backpack would have (i dont know what they are called). I can imagine the real one would be more stable but it gets the job done and could be made better with padding or something.

Famous!
I don't feel my sarcasm was thick enough on our cooler full of 'healthy snacks' aka adult beverages.
