My go to drinks at the bar
1. Redbull vodkas (I guess for when I really want to party, preferably with Grey Goose)
2. Vodka tonics
3. White Russians
4. Captain Morgan & Coke
Speaking of tequila, I got to try this stuff for the first time last weekend. Good stuff.
Ahhh, Caucasians. That's what I drink in Atlantic City. I don't know why, but the poker room at the Taj is the only time I ever crave a White Russian. Really weird.
I don't like "mixed" drinks too often, but I will throw some ups to whiskey sours and vodka tonics. Both solid.
Tequilla...my latest love:
Cazadores for Resposado tequilla
Chaya Silver is smooth, put the bottle in the freezer then over ice... i ended up buying 10 bottles from retail store for about $12/bottle. That's not normal price.
I was at my neighborhood Ralphs grcery store and a customer rep suggested a bottle that was $18 and was produced by the same makers of Cazadores or maybe it was the same area (Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico.) Anyways i'll get you the name later.
I stay away from Patron and Cabo Wabo because I'm cheap and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something that tastes the same or better for about $20.
Whiskeys:
Haven't explored the different single malts out there, but i do prefer the Jameson triple distilled irish whiskey overall for price and flavor. Scottish whiskey have a very smokey flavor and prefer jameson over say, black label or JD.
Vodka:
Can't really find it unless you're in Finland: Korskankova. Other than that, Belvedere and Grey Goose. Some of the others out there try to add flavor to mask how shitty it tastes...but it just burns going down. Costco has a 1.5L branded Vodka for $40 and it's bottled by Grey Goose (so I've heard.) It's just as good as goose, but obviously you get the volume discount.
All of these are over ice or with whiskey, add a bit of water. But you can do whiskey over ice too. It's all preference.
From the picture above, the name is Clase Azul Tequila Reposado. Expensive. haven't tired it.
I prefer my whiskey over ice, as opposed to with water because I like the transition of the ice melting into it.

huh joke seems to have lost it's appeal since the last few years...
If I'm at the bar, I want a Long Island Iced Tea (too expensive to make at home, though I do make a damn good one) and shots of Patron. If I'm at a restaurant it's likely to be a margarita on the rocks. At home, it's usually something with either Patron or Grey Goose. I've also been known to go the rum and coke route if the selection is limited.
That said, I honestly don't drink very much anymore. I work on the weekends, and it just isn't as much fun at home, lol.

It's really really really good. Very different from Irish whiskey. I would venture to say that it has almost a 'caramel' after taste. Very smooth, I've never mixed it with anything and never would.
My buddy distills it, so I occasionally get a bottle on the cheap.
I don't know if it was "Stranahans" but I had something a buddy of mine poured for me called Colorado Whiskey, it was good just a little sweet for my taste, same problem I have with most Bourbons.
^ Well I think the official name is "Stranahans, Colorado Whiskey" but I certainly wouldn't call it sweet, or anything similar to bourbon.
Then again, to each their own.
haven't tried the local whiskey yet, though I see it in liquor stores a lot.
typically I do gin & tonics or vodka tonics at bars. most recently been going to those vodka bars downtown that serve all sorts of crazy flavored vodka. Cucumber vodka is actually really really good. Has a very refreshing taste to it. Sort of like eating a salad and getting smashed at the same time.
