i'll probably skin for slush once or twice. i'd think of it as going for a summer hike up a mountain but you get to snowboard down. might not be great riding but snowboarding still beats walking

My local mtn closes on Sunday
They currently have a 89-112 inch base
Weekend forecast is for 8+ inches of snow and a high temp of 28 on Sunday. What a great day for a pond skim! -

Fuck it! Chuck Slash is going to Utah this weekend!
"The Wasatch receives a sharp cold front on Saturday evening through Sunday with a good chance of 7-11 inches of snow"
"A much stronger and colder system is expected to impact the region Saturday into Sunday. Significant snow accumulations are possible for the northern mountains with this storm. Very strong winds will be possible ahead of this system during the day Saturday into Saturday night."
"Snow should start during the day on Saturday and continue off and on Saturday night and Sunday. This will be a system mainly for Northern Utah with little if any precip making it down to the southern half of the state. Expect at least 6-12″ with possibly more in the high elevations of the Wasatch. This time of year it’s hard to have a lot of confidence in any particular solution so went conservative on totals for now."
Edit: Apologies to everyone in Utah that it will now not snow at all because of my enthusiasm and lugging a pow board out there.

The Chuck is fun to ride even in slush or hardpack conditions.

hope you dudes in utah get a dump. whistler just announced they're extending the season to may 28. and it's dumped 40 cm in the last 24hrs, making it officially the snowiest march ever, with 30cm more on the way by tomorrow. PNW!

back to watching the models.... they were calling for a big ridge of higher pressure to build over se-ak in the next two weeks, but each time the model runs have come through it's been getting weaker and weaker. the new gfs shows a nice low sweeping into se ak sometime around the weekend of the 14th. this is super variable and could not happen at all (or just be all rain) but... it's snowed hard in april before and it's entirely possible it can do it again.
time will tell i guess. would be nice if the last weekend the lifts were running had a bit of pow/fresh snow :)

45 more cm scheduled to drop on whistler by tomorrownope. Sunday at the Bird was the worst conditions I have ever ridden in. Limited visibility, snowing, bulletproof, relatively crowded, etc.
Last time I was there Mineral Basin was closed so I forced myself back there. Literally cannot believe I made it back down to the lift in one piece. Tried to head down the "easy" way and ended up going through a little chute that was sheer ice with pockets of shin deep snow. One of the more challenging things i have ridden even without the shit conditions.

headed to pemberton tomorrow to shred the duffey lake road backcountry for the long weekend. 6 ft in the past week and forecasted bluebird from now through the weeekend will hopefully mean a stable snowpack. hoping to summit a couple decently sized peaks in the area. can't wait.

Looks like heavy snow coming Thursday night into Friday morning.I have this pipe-dream lately of buying a small place in BC or getting an RV of sorts to drive up there and do some 2-3 week trips. Nothing will happen for a least 5-10 years, but you guys seem to consistantly get the goods.

I am slowly learning when to not take trips back to the midwest.
Missed the midwest week of 80's
Missd the PNW week of multiple feet of cold poder.
Fail.

Maybe Revy or Nelson/Cranbrook area. But, as you may have already read, wanting to move to the interior in about 5 years.
We don't get those massive 5 foot dumps like you guys but we get enough to fill in tracks and get a good long year. Out of my 49 days this season so far I figure 35 of them are legit pow days.

Weather and me have not been getting along this year.
So the bitch decides to skimp on rain during the winter.
And when the season is over, the bitch decides to rain all over the Coachella festival.
Can't win with her this year.

Lightening and Thunder storms aren't super common in the bay area. Especially ones that rattle the house and set off car alarms. I feel like a kid right now.
Also, I don't believe that list for a second. When I was a Kirkwood last (and they haven't had that much snow since then) there were fucking dirt patches in the runs. 180" snowpack in their dreams.

Our weather has been weird so far. It was up in the 80's, almost 90's for quite a bit of March, then April shows up and brings 50's and 60's, and now it looks to be heading back up to the high 70's and low 80's for the weekend, and then drop back down into the 60's and low 70's the rest of next week. Honestly, I wish it would just settle in somewhere between 75 and 85, and not get any warmer or colder than that, but this is Indiana, and that's crazy talk.

+1 on that sista! I wish it would stay consistantly in one range for a few weeks. I would like 60-70s. -

Raining like a son of a bitch here. It's trash day, and every 5 minutes or so I hear a rumble, look out my window, and see one of the neighbors trashcans getting swept down the street. They're all piling up behind one car a few houses down. Thunder and lightning too. Hopefully will be one last good shot of snow for the weekend for the locals.
