While we're on the subject of Australians, I just have to ask, why are there so many Aussis and NZ..ers.. working at NA resorts. Or at least the ones I've been too. Like even the "local mountain" (4 hour drive, 200? ft vert) has a fairly large percentage of Aussie employees.

I know. Why is a dinky little hill in the middle of the praries a work destination for people from the other side of the planet?

I asked when I was last there and the answer I got was it is a work sharing program. They work at asessippi during our winter, then at a "sister" resort in upsidedown land during their winter.

I thought that was like the best board in the world or something, the one that after all these years was absolutely perfect for you or whatever? Why would you not keep it?

Spenser, you could have probably got $350+ if you sold it next November on eBay. Somebody got a nice deal though.

    Wow, that's just weird...

Canada has agreements in place with aus/nz for exchanging work permits, making it easy for them to come here to work (and vice versa)... but I always thought they only came to the more "desireable" large resorts... indeed many of the rocky mountain/BC resorts depend absolutely on this labour force... it seems to account for >80% of the employees at my local hill...

yes, a lot. it's mostly a term used by ethnic aussies like lebbos, italians, greeks etc. very common but much more modern than something like fair dinkum or dinki-di.
