it probably rides.. normally. as long as the stance is comfortable i would think a 0/0 stance and a 15/-15 is not a huge difference.

im 5'10" and have a 150 with a 23.75" stance. pure secks. the widest ive ridden was 24". anybigger would be uncomfortable for me, but anything less than 22.5" would be very uncomfortable for me

do you snowboard? joking, but really, how can 0/0 and 15/-15 not be a huge difference to you? It is to me.

explain to me how it's a big difference beyond comfort.

I guess it seems to me to be impossible, so I can't even see it. When I skateboard, I have my front foot aways turned out, it seems...strange to be perfectly square, like you are golfing or something.

why is it impossible? again, beyond comfort, you are not articulating why it's a huge difference.

Yeah, I should try it out tomorrow, for kicks and bruises. I just really can't see it being anything but painful and not being able to turn.

uh, why try something that you think is going to suck? stick with what's working. certain people's feet shouldn't be locked at 0/0 anyway. re: turning, i'm sure you can at least link turns on any stance and any angle as long as you can snowboard in the first place..

    The Stance Width Debate

i took a ~4 year break from snowboarding and prior to that i rode both feet w/ positive angles and probably fairly narrow on width (even though i'm vry tall). fast foward to this year and i'm back riding. I figured i had better try out what seemed to be normal now -wide and ducked out stances-.
started out w/ 22.5 " and 15/-6..... then widened it out to 24" and 18/-9 and it felt weird as hell for a a short while, then felt just about perfect.
being an old guy it still seems weird in my mind that people way shorter than me can ride (and ride extremely well) with wider stances.

*and the other day i saw a kid riding with a pigeon toe'd stance... looked painful

    The Stance Width Debate

I'm 5'10 and have stuck with 21.5 for many years now. I been up to 22.5 and noticed more stability with the airs but the turns weren't as nimble. The front angle has stayed around 21 but the back foot has started to creep from -9 to near zero. I'm getting old so it's more and more about the turns. I've never seen anyone throw a sweet hack on a lip with a super wide stance, you gotta be able to bend that rear leg inward to arc out a smooth one. I reckon width is based on what you ride more of. My home mountain has no rails or park so I suppose that's the reason for my numbers. Each their own.

it's awesome to be back at it, i need more time to ride tho! it was also fun to buy all new gear... and then more gear, sell some, buy more.....

i may have found a board i really like, bataleon jam... and to stay on topic i think i'm currently set at a 23.5" stance.

    The Stance Width Debate

Honestly I've been messing with my stance all year. Bouncing back and forth between boards and bindings has messed with me to the point that now I am just riding my old stance and hoping that it becomes as comfortable as it used to be. I drew the line on making it any more extreme and decided that there had to be some operator error occurring.

5' 11", and I'm at 23" with +15/-9, which works fine for me. It feels a bit wide to get tech on jibs, but I don't mind since I do feel more stable landing jumps than I previously did at around 22". Thinking about ducking out my angles a little more tho. Oh and I feel perfectly comfortable cruising and making hard slashes.

old school 21"/530mm .... of course being 5'6" with 29.5" inseam, it's really ultra narrow for me

angles: +21/+6... but dialing back a bit now to +18/+3

My free ride stance was the same for the longest time....21/9 20 inch width....over the last couple of years it has become 12/-9 22ish width and the same thing has happen to my carving stance started out with 60/57 18 inch (on a 180mm wide board) I now ride 45/42 (200mm wide board) with a 21 inch stance...but I also run 6.5 degree cants both front and back

23.5 15 up front, -6 back. Forward lean set forward one notch down.

Stance width changes don't bother me as much as angle changes. I don't like riding higher than 15 on front and past -9 on rear makes it feel weird to me for some reason.

I still don't get the stability thing. When you're in the air with a wide stance..what sensation do you get that makes you feel "more stable?"
