I agree with everything here and thanks for staying. On the BMB the complete lack of Moderation drove really cool people away. When I first posted there, my head was chopped off for asking a newb question that some might have considered dumb.

thus spawning one of the greatest trolls in internets history!

parker said: Ado, why do you feel like members (like myself) cannot be mods (like myself)? I don't get involved in any of the big arguements and I never choose sides. I send pms asking to tone it down and if it continues to escalate I alert Chappy. Just wondering why you feel like we can't moderate efficiently?

You guys are doing a great job, don't get me wrong on that. My concern stems from the fact that as a participating member of the forum there can be a conflict of interest, real or just perceived. I'll toss out an example, strictly hypothetical (for the record this is an EXAMPLE and I think Serraph and Sodder are both Grade-A folks):

Say Sodder and I get into a massive mud-slinging argument. Maybe nothing edit-worthy is said in the argument, but some hard feelings are generated. Maybe a week later in an entirely unrelated incident I call someone else the C word and Serraph edits it. If Serraph was just a dispassionate hands-off mod it would be crystal clear that she edited my post because I said something inappropriate, nothing more to it than that and I really don't have a leg to stand on if I want to say she was out of line. Since she's a participating member of the forum and I blew up at a member everyone knows she likes an awful lot, suddenly the water is muddy and hypothetical asshole Ado is saying she edited my post because I pissed her off when I blew up at Sodder. Even if her editing was an obvious call, there's room for her motives to be questioned.

That illustrates why I think uninvolved, dispassionate mods are better for a forum than involved ones. Not saying you guys are doing anything short of a great job, just saying I think the other system works better.

Sodder and Suze have done no such thing, so worry about it if it ever happens, which is unlikely.

I think there is plenty of good mod usage, Parker and Dave do a damn good unbiased job IMO. I have never seen Parker or Dave takes sides in the madness that occasionally ensues here. Can't comment on Serraph as a mod as I do not read the womens thread, just to post gear for sale, but knowing her personally I can say she loves EL and the direction it is going and wants to make sure the integrity of Chappys vision is kept intact.

No more moderation than current standards please.
I do not want a watered down EL, I like mine straight with no chaser personally. All of us that came over here from the DMB have seen what a shit fest it was due to lack of moderation, and I really wonder if that is what any you want this to become? Dount it. This is and will be a far better place than that ever was.

The +/- feature sounds ok, I would like to see if it works though. Ignore feature gets a big thumbs down from me. Never seen it work.

I would like to see the mods and voices highlighted somehow

I agree with Contras concerns regarding consistency.

I talked with Chappy a few times before I moved out here about the plans for EL and his overall vision down the road. I think he has done an amazing job creating something better than the DMB ever was. Yeah some people are gonna get butt hurt along the way but that's part of starting anything you truly care about.

I am home sick, this sucks, but at least i have good reads now.

trying to keep up. 2 cents from a bmb vet:

    - i love the little community we've built here, for good and bad
    - i like the level of mod the way it is
    - i think it will help if mods are identified
    - i don't think there needs to be a +/- function
    - i don't think there needs to be an ignore button (i can ignore withOUT help if i want)
    - i think people should generally respect eachother, even though it's the internets
    - maybe the bar should be moved down the line a little
    - more small mammals for butts
    - yay chappy

Put Yourself In My Shoes (Size 10.5)

I will just throw this out there since Serraph and I are being mentioned as examples. I can assure you that I am not taking that personally. But here we go...

My "Admin" status has come from a few things over the past. Namely changing tags and doing some SEO work for Easy Loungin during transitional stages from one employer to another. It was an easy way to allow me access to some of the things that needed to be done without constantly having to pester Chappy or Lars for permission.

That being said I can tell you the limited times that I have actually done any administration work on this message board (I'm looking at the Moderation Log so I can assure you these are the only actions I have taken. Believe me or not.):

    1. I fixed a poll for nj#### once.
    2. I fixed a link for Truckeebread once.
    3. I deleted a double post by Horse Repairman once.
    4. Banned Mong C**t for 1 day due to repeated harassment towards one person. This person was also a 3X "alias" member... Which, from my understanding would not be tolerated.
    5. I deleted five of my posts. Most of which were poor attempts at humor or faulty information.
    6. I deleted a double post by Red Baron once.
    7. I deleted a double post by Serraph once.

I am an "Admin" by title only. You are kidding yourselves if you think that I feel I have the power or right to do any changing on this message board when it comes to users / posts / topics / or otherwise. The only actions I feel that I should take are housekeeping / janitorial duties that the ACTUAL mods are to busy to deal with. I wouldn't touch actual moderation with a 10 foot pole. It's not my place and I have never thought of it as such.

EL is not a money making machine at the moment. I volunteered to help Chappy out in this venture and he accepted. I felt if I could cut his overhead in any way and volunteer my time (much like a lot of you said when EL started) that I should because I thought it was a great idea and that Chappy, Lars, Kasey, Parker, Kenny, and Nicky B are good people.

All of that being said, if ANYONE here has a problem with the word "admin" showing up on my homepage when I log into easy loungin I will ask Chappy to remove it and all "responsibilities" that go along with it. I do not have a problem with that in the slightest.

I know that I am opinionated and that I make jokes on this message board and if the thought of me continuing to be an admin is upsetting to anyone for any valid reason I will gladly ask Chappy to take that away from me.
