1. Rome's QuickGrip technology sounds a lot like Arbor's magnatraction variation

2. Love the blue 390s. I think solid colors look better than putting graphics on the bindings.

3. That new Rome lacing system on their boots looks really interesting. At first I thought it was just a ripoff of Speedzone, but it looks like one lace tightens the inner liner and the other tightens the boot shell.

Burton, Rome, Capita, Union, Mervin are all coming out with some really good stuff for next year.

2011 Rome looks great. I like the binding advancements, nothing groundbreaking, but just solid improvements on an already great product. I want some cant beds in my Union bindings.

yea but I got a feeling both versions are going to have the fucked up sidecut. I'd start looking for a suitable replacement but I don't think one exists. What a shame but I fear that it really has come to that. Everything out there is either rocker or hybrid or has some kind of jacked up edges or isn't wide enough or is made by burton or has some type of gimmicky shit on it and it's inescapable and i'm fucking pissed off goddamnit.

thats how I felt looking for a board at the beginning of this year. Bought a Rome Anthem ss. Lots of gimmicks out there.

When you ride them Oak, what are your opinions, besides the initial rejection?

I liked rome until they messed with the sidecut. I liked capita until they all went mostly flatkick (the midlife may be an option but I usually don't like boards with that much sidecut). I like smokin but they've all got magnetraction. There was a few stepchilds I liked but now I hear for next season they're going either all rocker or all magnetraction (can't remember which). I like yes, but they've all got either rocker or magnetraction. I refuse to buy a burton, or a forum or a dc or a nitro or anything made by a ski company. All I want is a mid-wide, mid-flex, mid-sidecut, woodcore board with maybe a bit of carbon, without rocker, without magnetraction, without any gimmicks and made by a respectable company. Capita going mostly flat kick? The only boards offered not in regular camber are the horrorscope (which the stairmaster is the cambered version), Charlie Slasher, and black death

I did not know that. That's definitely the most suitable replacement then. Seems like the same type of board in width, shape, sidecut and overall intentions and purpose. I'll just have to get past the horrible graphics... not that the agent ever had good ones either.

Oh for sure. I have ridden the old ones, I have lots of friends who seemed like they had super human ollie power with these boards, and they were mean monsters of shred for sure. Why F with a good thing? Give it 5 years, it will come back around when camber is cool again.

Try the Cambered Indoor or Green Machine, GM has pretty subtle graphics if thats what you want. Also have you tried any other Romes? Like the Mod. I preferred that over the Agent, felt more lively/poppy.

I would bet that the Agent comes in RC and normal Camber and sidecut next season. I think the special sidecut was specifically for the RC board.

That's what i'm saying! I don't know, I know that my opinions regarding the current trends in snowboarding equipment really aren't popular opinions but i'm very much of the mindset of "if it ain't broke don't fix it". That's not to say i'm against progression and development but there's a right way and a wrong way to go about things. Nowadays it seems like every company is just slapping this shit on their boards because that's what they need to do in order to sell boards and that's wack. But yea give it five years and I got a feeling that all this crap will pretty much sort itself out and we'll be left with what really works and what's really good and what's not just good for making money.

wait till you get old and need a little more forgiveness from your boards. Well, you might not be the best example, but the people who really like rocker say that stuff.

Could, who knows? In all honesty there's not a damn thing wrong with the agent i'm on now so i'm hoping I won't have to replace it for a while. I really only plan on buying one board next season, 52 stairmaster.

Todd Richards feels the same as you. Check out Omatic. From personal experience I can recommend Arbor's Wasteland.
Man, I hope they didn't mess the cambered Agent's sidecut.
