The cut out in the high back for making it easier to hold onto the heel cup is a nice simple change. I've noticed when hiking with my Unions there isn't much room to hold onto the heel cup. I'm def getting these if I can. -

Those stairmasters are awesome. Best graphics i've seen in a while. I'll probably buy one in a 52 next season. My extreme just crapped out on me so i'll be due for a new one anyways and wouldn't mind going a bit softer for more of a rail board.

i agree that cosmetic changes definitely can change the impression, but i really like the aesthetic of the classic union aka a force. when i first saw them back in year 1 i was like... what the hell is that? looks like weird old school cheap shit.. then they grew on me and i cant see them that way at all anymore.
