Had the first bottle of the big stout I mad back in January. So amazing. We just put Yeti on at the bar and I'd say mine is pretty close but with more roast, oak, and Makers. Definitely sending it to competition. Big dark beers are amazing in a snifter.

I've been hearing lots out of the Midwest about Line's Shandy...must be a hot summer thing.
Here in Seattle ive been partial to Emerald City Lager, Silver City IPA, and Ninkasi Spring Reign.

Definitely a summer thing. Not a fan. Pretty much lemonade mixed with light beer.
I miss the Avatar Jasmine IPA.

Got all the gear to make beer for Christmas.....will make my first batch this week. Really....I'm not slow....I'm just really, really busy, that and I just got a brew pot big enough for the task.
I have zero expectations for my first batch.
Let the sterilization begin!!!

Starsan and a 5G HD bucket. Why take chances? Starsan lasts for months so once you mix it just keep int in the bucket. Best rule of them is to always remind yourself that after the boil is done, anything that touches the beer hits sanitizer first. I dunk my yeast packs and scissors I use to open them as well. Be paranoid now so later you can be drunk.

My first batch came out decently and a lot of it was ghetto rigged. No contams though! I think I used iodophor or some cheap version that worked well.
Also, I have a fridge that is the perfect size for a better bottle. I really want to make a solid lager. I need to get back in the brew game...need to get a big enough pot though. Using two normal sized pots and trying to guess the ratios wasn't the best method.
Edit: Dre you never told me what you thought of my beer! At least I don't think you did haha

JT here is a huge thread about building a temp controller to control the fridge for fermentation or to build a kegerator. I built one myself.

Small liquor chain opened a store locally here, they've won the award for best microbrew/craft beer selection in BC. Expensive, but they carry a lot compared to other places. Picked up a few Oregon beers (Alameda IPA, Deschutes Mirror Pond, Upright's 4, among others). Had the Upright 4 and a Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Upright wasn't bad, very light but good. Really digging the Pale Ale though, similar to a local pale ale except the flavour is much more pronounced and delicious!

Made a chocolate stout sorbet today with Bear Republic's Big Bear Stout. Found the recipe in Imbibe. Everyone thought it was really good. There was just enough malt poking through to make it an interesting treat for the beer drinkers.
