Realize this might fly over some heads but I started learning CAD last night and designed my brew stand. Super stoked and wanted to share pretty pictures. It's a lot to explain but I started a thread on the homebrewing forum I mention a lot if you are interested. Homebrewtalk

for cheaper non-fancy beers, i've been liking blue moon belgian wheat a lot lately

Totally read this wrong at first. Thought you wanted to make home brew for cheaper beers. Was going to tell you that you have it way backwards on that.
As far as blue moon goes, have you ever tried to add a pinch of coriander, a splash of squeezed orange, and pepper to a coors light? At least when brewing the recipe is fairly similar.

Dang. Drinking a coors right now and it tastes like water. I've always liked blue moon but it bums me out to hear that its not as quality as i thought it to be. To be fair I really haven't had many different types of beer but I'm starting to get into drinking good beer. I actually like the taste and don't just drink to get drunk, do you dudes reccomend any beers to "start out" on? That sounds so lame but last time I went to a liquor store I was overwhelemed and didn't know what to go for

Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada are some good labels that can be found pretty much anywhere. Both have good IPA's and some out there stuff that you can try

Took your dudes' recommendations and picked up a six of sierra and a six of some local IPA....sierra was effin delicious, the hoppy taste is really nice and not super overpowering. I love when you go to take a sip and you can smell everything, drinking good brew compared to shitty stuff is like night and day. The local beer wasn't as good, it was called captain lawrence. The farm I intern at actually is one of their suppliers for their hops so I excited to try it but it basically just tasted like a wannabe sierra. I was already drunk when I was drinking it though so I might have not been in the best state of mind to judge haha

Added the vessels and the pump for a better sense of scale. Also got a friend to do the welding as soon as I find the metal.

10 Barrels in Bend is the truth. Thanks Boy. However, Bend brewing was a huge letdown.

????? Not sure where the let down was. The food is pretty different but the beer is usually on point. Tanya Cornett the head brewer for 10 barrel is the former brewer of Bend Brewing who wrote all the recipes and set them up before leaving to start 10 Barrel. Also for those interested Boneyard brewing(also Bend, OR) is the original brewers from Deschutes who sold the company.

    Let me know stu.

IDK I thought Bend's Black Cherry Porter tasted like cough medicine, and their Hefeweisen was weak and came with a lemon(?). The place was dead on a Saturday night, especially coming straight from 10 Barrel. The Sin1st0r Ale for 10 Barrel way amazing. There is a reason it has so many awards. My girlfriend described it best as having all the good qualities of a dark beer without being heavy. Deschutes was good as well, better than expected because I really didn't like their bottled stuff in Tahoe. The pub was fun too and had good experimental beers.

Well I a off to Eugene for the day to check out Ninkasi, before heading to Portland tonight.

Drinking Coors Light is no laughing matter.

Just bought a bottle of Firestone's new Wookey Jack. I've heard good things, although I don't usually like rye flavors. We'll see.

i am no longer drinking beer. my last encounter with old chub was 3 weeks ago and i went to sleep fine. woke up and for the next two days had excruciating stomach pain.

a week to the day after drinking the old chub, i went out and had 3 different beers. the next two days were exactly the same.

i don't think it's beer in general because in between those events i had a couple of beers that didn't cause any of these issues. the beers that were ok were all from a local brewery whereas the others were not from that brewery. not sure what's causing it but i do think it's an ingredient in the beer and it was pretty awful so for a while at least i am OFF the keg wagon.

    sad panda :(

Never had either of those from BBC. All about their Outback Old Ale, HopHead IIPA, and Golden. Haven't been to 10 Barrel yet but have had a few of their beers. Very Good.
