Either binding is a good place to start if you don't know what your preference is.
again, there is no such thing as a terrain specific binding. it's all preference.
in short, the atlas is between the contact pro and force as far as overall responsiveness. i find the main difference (to me) to come from the baseplate.

Same size boot as i ride and to be honest its a bit of a pain to fit as its right on the over lap between m/l and l/xl.
I find that the l/xl base is better as my K2 t1 and ZF1 too long in m/l though good width.Straps will be at minimum in l/xl thou people add m/l straps to l/xl base.
Other thing to consider is the footprint size of binding on your board eg Atlas is bigger than force.
Atm i have a 162 BSOD and l/xl SL's only just sit on it.

Hey guys. New user, and want some Union bindings this year. I was really leaning toward some 2012 Contact Pros, for the nice flex but still decent response. What do you think? Ive seen them for about $170 on the internet so...
Build quality seems to be the best I've seen among any bindings. Of the few complaints I've seen most seem to be due to a failure to set the bindings up properly. The new toe strap fits much better out of the box, but the older one took some minor adjusting to fit well on some boots.
Yeah, thats what it sounds like around this site. I hated snowboarding-forum because everytime i looked for a review, it turned to a "rip on Union" sesh. But even then, they sometimes admit to the durability....
And the toe straps look alot better this year, but i didnt realized that the openings supposed to be off center, like im used to. My friend has some 12 contacts, and i attributed the strange strap fitting to his lack of snowboarding experience (at the beginning of the trip, he put his stance waaaaay towards the nose). But i figure ill just buy some Pros and see how they do....

@phony stark: yeah, same person every time. Even non union bindings, hes aleays tryin to tell people what he likes, even if the person asked about a specific binding.
And im a size 11.5 DC, so i'd be a L/XL, right? Preferably black, but the white is cool too i guess.

Also, everything shralp said is right. Some companies make comfier ankle straps, or smoother buckles or huggier toe straps, but, for me, only Union bindings put everything together in a package that's durable, predictable, comfortable and non-fussy.
Aside from my Malavitas (I like the hinge), I have four pairs of unions and won't use anything else.
Thanks. After checkin this site out, i am pretty comfortable buying some Unions now.
I read thru this whole thread, lookin for as much info on contact pros.... why i didnt sign up untill now, i have no idea.....
