SL is pretty similar in flex to the Atlas, and maybe a notch below the Force. However the Force a great binding, regardless of camber or rocker.
Girl really likes her old Cartels for the response but doesn't want a new pair because of all the padding. I think Forces would be really similar to the first few seasons of Cartels but I'm considering the Atlas as well. Thoughts?

I bought some skyback cartels from broke_folk and I feel like forces are the closest in response/stiffness but, in my opinion, more comfy in the highback area. Atlases to me are more comfortable than the force but have more lateral flex and a "torsionally" softer highback. I didn't really notice a difference in response straight back.

Vaya, How stiff of a rocker are you looking to buy?
If it's on the medium side, I'd say you should lean atlas, which is my favorite binding in the line. It feels like it will be what you want it to be. If you want to press and try ground tricks, it'll be soft for you, if you want response straight back while making a turn, it's there too.
If it's on the n00dle side, I say lean contact pro. I ran some contact pr0s on my arbor draft and liked them way more than my contacts.
Another choice to consider is the Danny Kass binding. Haven't ridden them, but kinda want to buy some. It's based on the Flite, which I liked but thought the highback was REALLY soft. This one is carbon injected and has a team highback which, if it's anything like the Atlas highback is nice and responsive.

No problem, if the RC board you are looking at like, even a little under middle of the road, your forces will be juuuuuuuuuuuust fine.
if you like a binding, just keep riding them. everyone is different, and i'm sure there are people who change bindings for certain riding as much as some others change boards, but i find that i like the same boot and binding for everything i do, and boards are the part i change per terrain/desired feel.

I couldn't agree more. I can ride Atlases and Nike DKs for everything.... its the board I change for conditions.
Totally agree with you Spencer and that is how I've ridden over the years. Girl has the Cartels that were based on Missions with more forward lean and leather straps. She doesn't want more padding or comfort but wants responsiveness. That's why I'm looking at the Force to replace the cartels but am interested in the Atlas.
I kept it to myself, but I copped some on ebay for 210.

probably because they use a stage 1 base, everyone loves the looks and hates the lack of response. (from what ive read) and i also own a pair and would like more response. id be down for an ultrafear3 but with force base at the very least.
not stage 1, that's DLX, it's the flite base, which is like a stage 1 contact base.
edit: i guess it's actually full on contact base, same as last year, right? same as before only a new highback & straps.

right, new base would make a world of difference in sales on those IMO.

and it's meant to be paired with the ultrafear, a loose, jibby board, so loose, jibby bindings seem like a good match.

right, had em on my ultrafear, felt much better on my horror. feel like forces on my ultra would be bliss though. the contact base is too jibby for me then i guess , different strokes for different folks.
